I have just spent four days at Hillsong conference and loved every minute! Worth every penny!
If you went, how did you like it and how highly would you recommend it?

I would highly recommend it to anyone, so long as they don't come in with a closed mind. I was there for the whole five days and the day program was thoroughly enjoyable. It wasn't just the all-star cast of speakers such as Matthew Barnett, Reinhard Bonnke, Rick Warren, Bill Hybels, Jentezen Franklin, etc. but we also had people from other churches in Phil Pringle and some of the CCC Oxford Falls worship people. Alvin Slaughter and Israel Houghton & the New Breed were excellent vocalists and worship leaders.

Apart from the many great speaker I think what I got out of it the most was the heart of Hillsong through the speakers that came from various Hillsong departments. I think often Hillsong is misunderstood when people look at the externals and that means just the services or the night rallies, and fail to look further in and see what is behind it all. They are fully for the gospel, to save the lost, and the conference is like an invitation to churches everywhere to come in and be blessed by Hillsong so that they in trun can bless others.

It is not as if Hillsong does not care about the poor or the abused and broken, they certainly do. They sponsor a village in Africa and push like-minded ministries such as Compassion, etc. And the flashiness of it is simply using the latest and best to draw people to God's best, and to have excellence in what they do, since God deserves the best. It is an act of worship. And it is a response to the media-rich things in the secular world that clamour for our attention.

It was a wonderful, excellent conference, and I was touched by their generosity. I decided to go in with an open mind, and once I could see the heart behind the sights and sounds I could relax and just enjoy it all. If I had gone in critical and examined every detail I wouldn't have enjoyed it, and wouldn't have been taking it in.
