I was born and raised Christian but as I am growing up and becoming more and more educated about the world/life/other people I am beginning to think some Christians are crazy...literally insane. I went to a Catholic elementary school and taught that other religions were "crazy" because they beleived in multiple gods and reincarnation and such. But is it any more "sane" to believe 2 of every species of animal in the world were on the same boat, that humans were magically created from dust, that a virgin gave birth. Have u ever played the game "telephone" when u were a kid? The bible is like one huge game of telephone that has last over 2000 years...very unreliable.

You've hit it on the head. Many of the pieces of the bible did come originally from oral history. And certainly in translating to latin, to english, etc. meanings have been inadvertently changed, yet those translations are often taken to be direct from God, ignoring how humans may have altered it over 2,000 + years. And from a neutral perspective, it doesn't seem any more crazy to believe one thing than another. After all, there aren't any big tell-tale signs occuring today that any one tradition is right or wrong.

Biblical christianity and catholicism have little in common. The Bible has been proven accurate, through history as well as experientially.
They don't teach this in most churches, but if you let God fill you with His spirit, you will doubt no more.
Acts 2:4, 38-39, John 7:38,39, Acts 8:12-17, 10:42-46, 19:1-6.

Or maybe you should follow the advice of a highly moral person, who goes by the name of Pimptress!

For the most part, you are dealing with the Bronze Age fantasies, folk-lore, misconceptions, fairy tales and myths of a bunch of ignorant peripatetic goat herders, trying to make sense out of a world in which the most sophisticated scientific instrument was their own eyeballs, and the most sophisticated intellectual tool was their own imaginations. The REALLY amazing thing is that today, somewat over 3 billion people (Christians, Jews, Moslems) BELIEVE this delusional crap.

You are on the right track. Check this out...

The Bible is the most reliable "telephone" as you say. All the prophesies have come true and all the so called inaccuracies can be explained and refuted. You should be even more inclined to believe if you believe in the telephone theory as you look at how long its been around.

1Tm:1:3: As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,
1Tm:1:4: Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.
1Tm:1:5: Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:
1Tm:1:6: From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling;
1Tm:1:7: Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.
THE HOLY BIBLE IS THE TRUTH,NOT EVERY ONE WILL COME TO THE TRUTH,WE HAVE A CHOICE.GOD IS LOVE

This is going to be one long explanation, in fact I think I'll save it just in case somebody else asks a similar questions.

The answer to your question is... "coconuts".

In the opening scene of the movie, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, a knight and his servant approaches a castle wall (Since the movie is purposefully done in low budget, no real horses were used and the knight and his servant used coconuts to bang them together in order to imitate the sound of horses galloping). Shouting to the guard on top of the wall they try and find out whether the king of the castle would be interested in joining them on their crusade (To find the Holy Grail). The guard immediately notices the coconuts in their hands and starts querying them on how they found coconuts on British soil since it is only found in tropical regions. Stunned by the question the knight blurts out the first thing that comes to mind: "A swallow brought it over from Africa" he said. Soon an argument breaks out between the knight and the guard on the castle wall on whether a swallow is in fact strong enough to carry coconuts all the way from Africa. Periodically the knight tries to stop the argument just to find out if the king would interested in joining their quest, but the guard on the wall just can't drop the topic of the swallow and the coconuts. Watching this scene produces a sense of frustration since the guard just refuses to drop the topic of the coconuts and refuses to listen to what the knight has to say.

The message that lies within this scene is a simple one. Jesus Christ is the Son of God who came down to Earth and died for everybody's sins (past, present and future), rose from the dead and ascended to sit at the right hand of God. The only thing that matters is that you surrender your life to, and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. The rest is coconuts.

Individuals will try and turn you away from the real message by arguing topics such as evolution, different religions, magic, astronomy, etc. All this is just plain coconuts. Do not let yourself be distracted from the real message like the guard on the castle wall did. Always stay focused on the real message, the Truth else known as the Gospel of Jesus.

Next time somebody tries to argue evolution or a similar topic, just say to them, "coconuts", and leave the conversation. Chances are they just like to hear the sound of their own voice. When they are really ready to listen, then, tell them the Truth.

A game of Telephone -- brilliant! That's exactly what the bible is.

And no, it's not just you. Religion is crazy precisely because it flies in the face of reality.

I always tell people religion is a form of mental illness. Unfortunately for the rest of us, it will take a while for humanity to evolve past this stage. I really, really think we are still in the dark ages, despite all our fancy gadgets.

People believe what they want to believe, and a lot of that has
to do with how they're raised. If your parents set out to brainwash
you starting at an early age,you can learn to believe anything.
