You are asking the wrong question. The correct question is: Why do we seek relief, relaxation and comfort in substances like pot, cigarettes, alcohol, etc. while we should really rely on God for comfort and peace? All these things draw attention away from God and suggest that we don't need Him and that we are not dependent on Him.

If you are in the U.S. smoking pot is illegal. I think that God wants you to live by the laws of the land as long as you are able to worship.

I am not so sure that god gave us the so called pot producing plant. Plants can be genetically altered and have been known to evolve from other plant species.

Every thing has it's intended purpose - tobacco for example is useful for helping bruises on Cattle. People change the uses of the plants that God gave us, making it into something that it was not intended to do.

God gave us tobacco, poppy plants, and hallucinogenic mushrooms too - and some poisonous plants.

Pot only got illegal in the 1930s because of the paper industry. If it became legal now, it would kill the alcohol, tobacco, and pharmacy industries.

It's not wrong, it's just illegal. The government doesn't=right. That's why the government is in the hands of the people so we can change it how we see fit. Slavery was once legal too, but that doesn't make it right.

Some plants are not good for you. Poison oak, ivy and sumac are not good for your skin, nor should you eat or smoke them. Pot is in this category, like tobacco and should not be smoked.

God has blessed/cursed us all with free will. I personally think pot is just fine, but as for meth and such...God didn't plant the idea into a person's mind.
