I have naturally blackish-brownish hair that I added brown highlights in, but now I want to do it either that black with a purple or blue-ish tint OR a permanent jet black. Where can I get a good brand of dye? I was thinking Hot Topic but I need some opinions/answers first.....

I dyed my hair permanent black a few months ago. Make sure it is something you absolutely want. Now that my natural brown hair is growing out, it looks bad with the black. I like the look of black hair, it just takes time to grow it all out when you don't want it anymore. And because it is black, I can not dye over it. I bought my hair dye from a department store. You have to be careful though, because if you get dye that has been in the store for a while - it may not turn out - I learned that the hard way. Ask someone how often they get new hair dye boxes in.

Don't do jet black. You will regret it I swear. Jet black dyed hair looks like craap after a week and you are stuck with it.
Go with the blue-ish tinted black if you go darker. More light will be reflected from it than plain jet black.
Feria by Loreal has a nice blue/black dye.

Use black henna. You may need to "redo" it every 6-8 weeks, but it's a much "blacker" black than most dyes.
