I would ask your vet. She or he can give you the best advise. Not all allergies are treated the same. Perhaps your pet can have blood work done? Just to make sure they're allergies.

We have a cocker spaniel with the same problem, our vet advised benadryl just like for small children if the higher costs of regular vet drugs were a problem and it helped good luck

Benadryl can be used safely in dogs to treat allergies.

You can give them Benadryl. Just ask your vet about the dosing based on his weight.

Do you mean he's scratching alot? I use Benadryl for one of my dogs....but check with your vet first on the dosage, cuz it goes by the weight of the dog.
