Hi.

Okay, here's the problem: (unfortunately) you can't just burn an .avi video on a dvd disc and have either a ps2 or a standalone dvd player to recognize and play it back (but don't feel bad; I've known others to try this).

Instead, the avi needs to be converted to mpeg2 and from that to .vob and finally, these and other misc files (for disc navigation, with or without a menu) have to properly structured for the player (in this case, your ps2) to recognize it. There's numerous applications that can do this, such as Xilisoft Convertor, WinAvi Convertor, DVD Santa, Neroi Vision, ImToo Convertor, etc.

Take a gander at the apps here: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_encoders/index.cfm

Even some of the trials are full-featured but for a limited time.

video mode is The setting of a video adapter. Most video adapters can run in either text mode or graphics mode. In text mode, a monitor can display only ASCII characters. In graphics mode, a monitor can display any bit-mapped image. In addition to the text and graphics modes, video adapters offer different modes of resolution and color depth

You need to give more information if you want a good answer. What are you having problems with? A downloaded movie? Is the player giving you an error when you try to play it? If so what player are you using... etc etc :)
