last week I won £46000 on the lottery. The week before that, I found out that while I was going all night fishing sometimes my wife was going out with another bloke. should I tell her about the money, what should I do?

Honor dictates that you give her her fair share, although I would give her the divorce papers at the same time. just because she has dishonored herself and your marriage, doesnt mean you should dishonor yourself as well by cheating her out of her fair share.

100% definately not. however if you do end up in divorce proceedings then she will be entitled to 50% so be careful.
you could try hiding it in an offshore account somewhere not under your own name of course but this could be illegal consult a financial advisor.
failing that let me deposit the money in my account and i'll trickle the cash back out to you at so much per month. (just kidding here ppl)
seriously though consult a financial expert see www.moneyexpert.co.uk (it could be.org.uk) i forget off the top of my head. see what if any advice that guy can give you. (the guy you see giving money tips on some of the consumer shows on TV.
ultimately I'd advise not telling her for now at least.
and start buying property in your parents name and then when the divorce is over you sell the property etc on to you (transfer the property back to your own name) see your parents if they will be willing to go along with the plan.

this could be illegal or at least on the fringes of legality as i said consult an expert.

I think that you should confront your wife and have her give you an explaination of exactly what she was doing with another man instead of immediately giving her the verdict of cheating or flirting with another man, even though that is probably the most logical conclusion since your wife didn't see it fit to inform you of this bloke she was going out with. If it turns out for the worst, then handle your relationship and deposit the money.

First of all, congratulations on winning the lottery.

My advice is that you tell her about the money only after you and your wife have reconciled what happened. Does she regret what happened and does she want your forgiveness?

If I were in your position I would want to share my money with my significant other.

Or, you can go blow it all at the T & A. Good luck with your decision!

If you are legally married then yes you should. Because if you chuck her and then say you have this dosh. The law will probably giver her all of it rather than just half. A woman in England tried to do that some years ago. The courts awarded the husband the lot.

i think you need to talk to her about your relationship, irrespective of the win. keep an open mind, her going out could just be on a friendly basis, or it could be more - but don't jump into conclusions initially.

The money only complicate matters, its quite hard for anyone to keep something like that completely to themselves. However consider putting it in a trust or put it under your parents name for the time being. You don't want it to cloud over the more serious issue, which is the true state of your marriage.

good luck.

if u caught her cheating then i would leave her and right before u leave tell her that u won the lottery. that should catch her attention. but once a cheater always a cheater , so leave her. im sure u can find somebody else in ur area. that has more respect for u as a person.

That depends on if you want to stay married to her. If you dont, then give it to someone to hold for you until you get divorced because she is entitled to half of it at the time of divorce. If you want to stay married then dont tell her yet, you have to sort out the affair first becuase she may only want to stay with you for the money. Sort out your marriage first and forget about the money for a while, let it gain interest. Go to marriage counselling if you want to save your marriage.

Maybe its a perfect opportunity to play "truth" with you're wife. If she is willing to confess to misdeameanors and admit she has been up to stuff she shouldnt be maybe you could find it in you're kind heart to tell her about you're good fortune, however if she is not willing to share her sordid secrets i feel the monies won would be best spent on yourself and future fishing trips!

Fishing all night? Nice cover. Seriously though....get the proof she's cheating, file for divorce and then tell her about the money.
