The only time I hear birds and bees mentioned is on television. I personally didn't take that approach with my children...although I did make the mistake of telling them that the sperm in "Look Who's Talking" (The Movie) were tadpoles. They say they'll never let me live that one down. I am pretty sure our conversations had to do with real life partners getting together in a subtle format., they also get information in school now and the movies have plenty of information to share before we even started talking about it.

Any parent with wisdom would tell their children if they had to take their clothes off to do something, then they are treading on dangerous ground and should leave it at that. That's the easiest, most intelligent way to teach kids about how far they should go and it worked well for those I raised. No birds, no bees, just the truth.

They don't actually talk abut the bird and the bees, they just use that as an expression.
