Many Americans don't think that. No one I know thinks that. They are there because the government sent them.
Iraq may not be able to do anything to us.. but we are more after the people who can. the terrorists

If the USA was as domineering as the press in Europe and other parts of the world would have you believe. The USA would be in total control of all the worlds oil (well except for Russia and China). Come to think about it the USA already controls the worlds oil. All the oil in the world has to be paid for in US $$$. Even when China buys oil from Iran they pay for it in US $$$. Also the US Navy owns all the oceans in the world. The US Navy has enough power to sink all the navies of the world combined in less than a day.
I guess what I am getting to is that the USA has owned the world (not just the oil) for the past ten to twenty years, but we have just been nice enough to let the rest of the world do what they want.
I do have to say that I did hear rumors that Saddam was planning on selling oil for Euros instead of US $$$ and that was the main reason for the invasion, but I do not know.
The fact is he needed to be taken out of office, but so do about a hundred other despots. You might ask why him? Well why not? He deserved it and it taught other nations like Lybia a lesson.

This tired old argument is ridiculous of course.
America has less oil now than before the war started
IF American wanted to attack someone to get oil, which they do not and have not, we would already own the small country of Venezuela.
Venezuela has the largest oil reserves in the world, a crappy little army, no real freinds in the world, and only about 1000 mile south of Texas or Florida,

This is a perfect example of faulty thinking based on overgeneralization. First mistake: You're accusing all Americans of thinking the same way on any issue. Second mistake: You've bought into an unjustifiable claim that Americans think Saddam was going to attack the U.S. directly. He'd likely have wreaked havoc on closer targets first. Third mistake: America's invasion of Iraq caused the price of oil in America to increase, not decrease. Do the math! Fourth mistake: You've bought into the typical Muslim propaganda that a western country wants to take over the world. Hitler wanted this, but no one else since has. Fifth mistake: Apparently you believe your media are more reliable than ours? Sure, our mainstream media are slanted in a politically liberal direction, but what is your source? Al Jazera? At least we in a free country have access to multiple perspectives of these important issues.

Do you really think that any other country is willing to step up to the plate? Americans are no different than other country who believes in democracy. The difference is that the United States can recognize a brutal dictator who supports terrorism. Our way of life and freedom is being destroyed by Islamic zealots

Why is it that people like you judge "all americans" together? We are individuals, with individual thoughts.
That being said, we do not think Iraq the country will actually attack us, but perhaps those individuals that are in Al Quida... seeing that many, many, many Al Quida members live in Iraq - that is why we are there.

we definitely dont all think that. im one of the ones that know we definitely aren't there because of some threat from iraq. i believe there is not any good reason for our country to be over there. YOU also shouldnt generalize and should see that not all americans are in support of the war. in fact the majority dont support it at all.
