Sorry, but no. Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint are part of Microsoft Office which is not available for free. However, you still have some options:

1. You can download a 60-day trial for Microsoft Office 2003 from Microsoft Download Center (http://www.microsoft.com/office/editions/prodinfo/standardtrial.mspx).

2. You can download and install the open-sourced OpenOffice. OpenOffice software mirrors the applications found in Microsoft Office. Files created in OpenOffice is compatible with Microsoft Office and vice-a versa. (http://www.openoffice.org/).

3. You can sign up to use Microsoft Office 2007 beta (http://www.microsoft.com/office/preview/beta/testdrive.mspx). It is free during the beta testing only.

4. You can sign up to use the online office, ThinkFree. ThinkFree has all the programs found in Microsoft Office. All files created in ThinkFree are compatible with Microsoft Office and vice-a-versa. (http://www.thinkfree.com/common/main.tfo) A free account allows you to save up to 1GB.

I doubt that it would be legal, seeing as all the Microsoft Office programs are $50 and ^.

Openoffice works well, but it isn't quite as good as its Microsoft counterparts. The two forms are compatible however, so openoffice is one of the best imitator suites.

try going into the freeware homepages where they have freeware programs not shareware because they want and arm and a leg for these two simple programs , or go into major geeks homepage or microsoft office homepage and download them from there

If you simply need to view files that someone else has created, you can download the Excel and PowerPoint viewers free from Microsoft:
