I am the president of a baptist womens group and we will be having a "lavender" tea that will be held in a nice outdoors area. The problem is that we dont know what to put on the program. does anyone have any ideas about anything from highlights in the program such as skits, presentations, games or food for that afternoon?
Also we would like to raise some money for our group.
We want this event to be not only fun but spiritually uplifting. Thank you for your help.

I remember a few years back I went to a tea at my sister's church, and they had a fashion show (any kind of old fashioned clothing). You could get the Red Hat Ladies (if there are any) to wear red hats. You could try to get a few ladies who are older to recount some of their experiences throughout the decades (interesting stories only - they would have to think about what they wanted to tell). You could have a "show and tell" - each person who is to attend could bring something that has an interesting history to it, such as an antique that has been in their family or a favorite tea cup... whatever. You could ask people to bring in either wedding albums or baby books or just some photos and have them on a table for people to look at CAREFULLY!! Maybe you could have demonstrations, such as:
someone who is excellent as arranging flowers could teach the group how to do that, or someone who is fantastic at crocheting or knitting could teach that. Maybe if you had a sign-up sheet for these short informal classes, you could have the "expert" go out sometime before the party and purchase what would be needed (flowers, cheap vases, hooks, yarn), and then to raise money you could double the price of the materials (or raise it as you see fit). But you would need to let the women know ahead of time that they would be paying money for these materials for the purpose of raising money. I hope you have a great party!

when is this being held, summer afternoon? I could offer you lots of idea, i have worked with a lot of different groups and events and event planning. Something that often works well for adult groups is an auction. Items church members donate, services, anything of any value, and items are listed for your attendees to bid on. What purpose does your womens group serve, is it purely fellowship? Sharing a vision of direction for where your headed, or goals as a group you've already met are good ideas. Maybe as a group you can adopt/sponser a child through compassion they have an awesome presentation kit you can get online. Food items should really be determine by what time of day your event is scheduled for, does you tea have any sort of theme? If it does you could share that with me and i can work with you to develope a menu. Feel free to email me cause my head kind of goes into overdrive with event planning for churches.
