Lemon juice is essentially a natural bleach. But it lightens hair much like any other chemical bleach... so please don't think because it is natural that it is safer. It too, can dry your hair out.The results you will get by squirting this stuff on your hair will be similar to using Sun-In. In the old days I've tried both and camomile on my blonde hair. If you get your hair highlighted, I suggest just continue to do so. maybe ask them to add a few more if you feel you are not quite blonde enough. The results you will get by using lemon juice on already highlighted hair is questionable. You'll probably dry it out more than improve the quality of blondeness. If you feel you must try it. Add vegetable oil to lemon juice and squirt it on.. lay outside for 20-30 min. or blow dry it for a few and rinse.. this will lessen the drying effects. I dont think you'll see much in they way of results, but using it full strength is harsh.
Good Morning America had beauty expert Diane Irons demonstrating how lemon/vodka works to both lighten natural hair and invigorate chemically treated highlights. Her latest book is 911 Beauty Secrets. There's also a transcript of her interview at ABCNews.com, with her other tips.

Yes,lemon juice will work. You wet your hair with water and then soak it with the juice(full strength).Go sit in the sun until it dries. The color of the highlights will depend on the darkness of your hair. The darker the hair the less it works.Works best for medium browns to blondes. The super sun- in lightens like from being out a lot in the sun. The lemon helps brings out natural highlights instead of just lightening.
I've always heard bad things about sun-in. I've always heard it turns it orange.

A good dye to get is L'Oréal Paris: Couleur Experte. It has an all-over dye and highlights. It always looks really good. Ive had people think I had my hair done at a salon after I used it. I highly recommend it.

Sun in is basically lemon jucice. Its a citric acid. Do it right the first time is cheaper even if you go to a beauty school for cheaper they have instructors. Or Consider a weave if you have any hair left.

I don't think lemon juice is going to give you your desired results. If you absolutely don't want to go to a professional for this procedure, try cream facial bleach and apply with a toothbrush. I've heard this is what Kirstie Ally does. But again, I cannot over emphasise , condition well.

i can tell you from my own horrific experience with sun in; if you have brown or light brown hair this will turn it orange. don't home dye your hair BC apart from it doing intense damage to your hair, much more than a color at the salon would do, theres no sure way to tell what color it will turn. that color on the box is false advertising...the color your hair takes depends on the weather, your time of the month, and many other things. yes, going to the salon costs more, but it so worth it if you want beautiful hair.
