Ok, know how people talk to animals, sometimes just as the do with people? Well, when a French person speaks with an animal (of course, the animal isn't going to talk back...), but do they use the Vous or Tu form? Especially if the other owner (someone the speaker does not know) is present?

We use "tu".
It doesn't matter if we know them or not and if we use "vous" for their owner. It's the same for children.

Vous is more formal in terms of speaking whereas Tu is more for familiar. I suppose that with the owner you should use Vous and with the dog you use Tu... unless there was a reason to respect the dog highly.

You would use the familiar tu form with an animal whether you know it or not,

For animals French use Tu. If they know the animal, owner or not, is the same.
But, is this a joke?

If you're talking to an animal, especially when someone else is present, you're likely being facetious anyway (otherwise it's a bloody smart animal or you're nuts)
Go with vous.

They use "tu" for animals and children.

HOWEVER, I noticed in the dubbed version of Narnia, the children called adult speaking animals "vous".
