While you are correct in stating that most all religions have extremest groups who do press their religion, Christianity is no exception. Some would argue that Abortion clinic bombings would be an example of such violence. Since Christianity is the predominant religion in the U.S. it seems to be the one doing the most pressing, and not just violently; i.e. media, protests, certain laws. But there are many, in fact MOST, Christians out there who do believe without being "pushy," as there are Muslims, Hindus, Jews, and atheists.
After reading some of these previous posts, I find it funny that some think Christianity is the only religion gulity of having violent zealots. Yes, even BUDDHISM has had its share of violent zealots: Aum Shinrikyo.

I think that Christians definitely have pushed not only their religion but their version of history on others:
1) The Crusades were very brutal
2) The Inquisition and the Albegiensian Crusade massacred Christians with heretcial beliefs.
3) Charlemagne offered his people conversion or execution
4) Genocide of Muslims in Kosova and Bosnia with the tacit concent of the Serbian Orthodox church.
Muslims conquered people and massacred if they didn't convert and supported them if they did.
I know of no cases of forced conversion under Buddhism, Kings became Buddhist and so the state religion became that.
It is a poor state we are in when we say we are no worse than other murderers. Surely it is better to live a good life and protest against intolerance and brutish behavior wherever it occurs.

Buddhists and Muslims do not try and push their religion on others, where did you get that from? Buddhism is one of the most peaceful religions on this planet. Islam means "peace". Christians DO push their religion on others, on this site even. Buddhists have NEVER killed anyone because they didn't believe. If you knew anything about Buddhism you would know that the Buddha told his followers not to worship him after he died. Buddhism, although technically a religion was not supposed to be. Now on to Islam, stop associating all Muslims with Arabs and so-called terrorists. The people behind 9-11 were extremists. They make up a small percentage of Muslims.
Here is what I find interesting, Christians spend so much time trying to convert others and condemning people when Islamics and Buddhists just try and live their lives doing good and treating people right.
Study history before you make such an ignorant judgement.

Buddhists are the last people you'll see killing other people over religious conflict. Christians have had a long history of murdering others in the name of God (consider how long the Crusades lasted - not to mention they had children crusaders!) No matter what religion, there will always be people who try and force their opinions on others.
Also I've read and learned about those articles posted in the first answer - they aren't agreed upon. It's like saying we know for sure that Socrates was real.

I'm really tired of answers like "the crusades" and "the inquisition". Can't you people think of a better one? The problems that plague the societies of today cannot find its answers from what traspired thousands of years ago. The Medieval time was, what?, somewhere between 8 A.D. up to the mid 15 A.D. Do you people really think that the folks in those times think the same way as we all now do even if we see gullible answer at this modern period in history? The crusades and the inquisition are history, it is only being used to justify present atrocities that can somehow put guilt on those who want to keep on glorifying their faith. When a faith is in question, why does it always have to delve on the topic of infirmities like war?

Those who belong to Islam and Xtianity are suppose to spread their religions and convert others. It says so in the bible for Xtians, but I forget where it says it in the Quran. Both those groups are the only ones that are adament about converting b/c their religion says they should.
And, Buddhists don't kill, moron, they're BUDDHIST......They're suppose to be vegitarians, they're not allowed to kill anything for any reason. [Disreguard the Vietnam protests, if you know anything about that.]
Yea, I def believe Christians push their beliefs. For Gods sake, we still have the Crusaders around [go take a look at your local college campus]
If others don't ask what your beliefs are, then it's obnoxious to tell them anyway....Reguardless if they ask. [Which is what many do.]
Whether Muslims or Christians are worse than killing ppl has nothing to do w/ it. Both have spilt blood during history.

Have you forgotten Bosnia? Do you know how many Muslims were tortured, killed and raped by Christians there? This was less than 20 years ago. In Europe.
People say Christians push their beliefs on people because they do. Are Muslims any better? No, they are not. And by the way, Buddhists do not try and convert others.

I think just the way you do, but some people go overboard. Some people push it a little too far. The bible says that you should share your faith with others and then leave it be, God will do work with them some more, but they have to make their own choices. Some christians are a little too controlling, but atheist or nonbelievers shouldn't snap at you if you try to share your religion and faith with them. God Bless.

They don't need to be "worse than the muslims" when they can point to these illustrious achievements:
The Crusades.
The Spanish Inquisition.
The conquest of the Americas.
The enabling and prolonging of slavery in the Americas.
Witch hunts.
The Holocaust.
Galileo spending his final years under house arrest.
Pedophile priests and the bishops who spent decades covering up for them.
Pious nitwits who only want to make life difficult for gays who want to get married and women desperate to end an unplanned pregnancy, and who smugly claim this is what their god expects of them.
The same pious nitwits making it impossible for children to get either a useful sex education or contraceptives, thus contributing to the appallingly high rate of unplanned pregnancies, which in turn creates a permanent underclass of impoverished, ignorant women and children.

I've had some friends who have tried to push Christianity on me by making me read the Bible and pray. Didn't work. People believe what they want to believe, and by "reaching out", it's kind of pushing, I think. Can't forget the crusaders..the war...yeah, research is good.
