It all depends on what kind of headache you have -

If you have a tension headache, you may try a nice warm bath with some relaxing bath salts in it. You may try a nice massage in the area where the pain is and just try to relax and focus on something else.
Rest may also ease the pain.

If you have a migraine headache, you may try to have some caffeine (if you can keep it in your stomach). Also go into a nice dark, quiet room and sleep it off.

Depends on the headache. I would start with two extra strength Tylenol and work my way up to neurosurgery on a gradual basis.
