Crikey! I always thought it was outrageously expensive and have revered it accordingly. Where did you find this bargain of bargains? Answer in the form of a quesion. If you can be arsed.

I love Chartreuse, that is one of my favorite drinks to sip. I like the yellow variety much better than the stronger green variety. If you watch Murder on the Orient Express (the old one with Michael York in it), Hercule Poirot is drinking green Chartreuse on the train.

Yes, it's made by monks, following a secret recipe. It dates back to 1605 at least. I have a full page on it here -

It's a sipping liqueur. You pour a small glass of it and enjoy it in small sips. Even so, like I said, I love the yellow type but the green type is a bit too strong for me. Make sure you have a good narrow glass - if you have one with a wide top, the alcohol fumes will kill you.

Yes. Chartreuse is made in Voiron (small french town) near Chartreuse mountain (the monastery is in the mountain, 20 km away from the factory), in the french Alps. Monks are supposed to gather for it hundred+ different plants (the list is a secret) in the mountain but I did not check, and maybe a monk manage the process... The monks still live in the monastery but it is not allowed to visit them, they talk to no-one. You can visit the factory in Voiron and a museum near the monastery.

It's strong and sweet, and the the many different plants give it its special taste. You should drink it in a very small glass...

Be carefull with it, Right and Wrong can go straight out the window after 3 or 4 shots. You have been warned, it's been banned from all the local pubs in my home town.
Go have a spliff or something, a lot easier on the brain!

Do you have the yellow or the green stuff?
If it's yellow it's milder(!) you can mix it with tonic and add a slice of lime
if it's green either drink very cold or even on the rocks
you can also add it to coffee as an after dinner treat

Chartreuse is good stuff. Used to make shooters out of it with Bacardi 151. We called them "Mean Greens". Lit them on fire, blew em' out, and down the hatch :))

It's strong for sure. I think that some is made by monks. I like it with sprite or lemon lime soda.

i had a cocktail with it once and it wasn't too bad - lots of ice and mixers helped. Also found you this link (although you probably already found it yourself via google)
