I either drive or ride my scooter. It's 24 miles. I travel alone. I listen to the radio or CDs if I'm in the car, but if I'm riding, I can't. One night I was riding my scooter home and a pit bull came after me. Too bad for the dog he was on a long leash and he forgot about it. The other night I was in the car and there was a drunk in front of me, so I called the police and stayed on the phone with them so they could track us until they arrested him. That was scary because he kept hitting the curb and swerving on to the wrong side of the road. Sometimes I see the same people on the road, but I try to vary my route so it's not so boring. I always try to stay away from other cars so I don't have to deal with the road rage that comes with tailgating, cutting of other people, and other bad driving. I try to approach driving from a kind of Tao perspective. Read "The Tao of Pooh" for details.

I usually take the bus but it's only a few blocks but the hot weather makes it difficult in the summer. I get a ride or take a taxi at night. I don't carry an ipod or anything because I live in a bad neighborhood so the only thing on my mind is getting to the busstop safetly and getting in safely.

For me I either drive a big GMC truck, ride a small Vespa Scooter or walk. I'm only a 35 minute walk from work. I actually bought my house with proximity to work in mind. Its a great luxury to just walk to work. However sometimes I need to do other things than go to work and straight home so thats when I use one of the vehicles. Also its dependent on the weather. In the winter for example when it gets cold and snowy, I'm almost exclusivley in my truck and it takes me only about 12 minutes to get to work. Just city streets, traffic isnt so bad. I have co-workers who have bigger houses in a subdivision north of here, but they leave an hour before they have to be to work, just to be sure to get to work on time. I couldnt stand that.
Sometimes when I walk, I usually pass the house of an old guy who is doing some light yard work. Also I always say hello to a woman who runs a day care center out of her house. On garbage days, she leaves out a couple cans of Coca-Cola and a dish of pastries for the garbage men as a gesture of thanks for handling the can full of disposable diapers! Also once in a while, I see an elderly lady who colors her hair neon blonde walking her dog. When I walk, I always leave within a minute or two of the same time, so we all catch each other in the same location of our routines.
