Fords suck. Of course it doesn't work. Let me expand this to.. American cars suck.

ford have consistently accomplished this way of erratic behaviour..i had a mk1 granada, as quickly because it went over 80mph the temp might creep up... often its coz the rad is a tad too small. examine the thermostat, and confirm your stages are as much as their mark. difficulty while it is going over 2/3 and maintains to be there.. concepts you being a ford it would desire to easily be a 2 quid sensor interior the top thats the two have been given a loose twine, undesirable earth or is failing.

Are you sure its not over heating? and the fan is cooling it down, if you only do very short journeys that could explain it.
Early focus had faulty thermostat housings that leaked engine coolant. Check your coolant! As its a new car get back to the garage as it should be covered by warenty!!!

I have got the same problem with a american 2.0 gas focus so i traded it for a competor car

sounds like a problem with the temp sensor on the rad fan /probably loose connection
