Don't give him as much dry foood. I have a cat too. All cats need more wet food than dry. The only other reason is that your cat drinks twice as much water. Dry food should only be fed maybe 3-4 times a week and 2 times a day. Also give your cat some treats that can control plaque. If she/he likes it feed some in the dry food and some in the wet food. Also another way is don't feed him too much wet food. It will eventually eat so it's bound to eat the dry food. It won't starve itself.
Cheers

My daughter had that problem with her cat, but the vet told her the cat needed dry food as it was better for her teeth.
She feeds her dry food, but gives her canned food every once in a while as a treat.
Even if she doesn't want the dry food, she eats it when she gets hungry enough.

Get a flavor of dry food that your cat will like and mix a little canned food with it. Gradually decrease the canned food so you end up with no canned food in the dish with the dry food.
Canned food is only good for cats as a treat once in a great while. Dry food is crunchy and helps break up plaque on their teeth, but canned food sticks to their teeth and can cause problems (like too much sugar for our teeth!).

Just leave out the dry ... DON'T let the bowl be empty ... mix some cooked rice in it at least twice a week ... the cat will accept this as his/her food source ... give it some meat scraps from the table regularly ( but do it behind it's back or you'll start another problem ).

My cats also prefer wet food so I give them 1-2 teaspoons once or twice a day & the rest of the time I give them dry food. The "taste" of the wet food seems to satisfy them.

I had the same problem with my cats, so I feed them less canned food. (like maybe twice a month)
They will eat the dry food because they get hungry.
It's also good to fast your cats one day a month to help them to get impurities out of their system, plus if you de-worm them it helps the wormer to work better by killing off the worms more effectively with the medicine and no food for them to eat.
Leave a certain amount all day of dry food out for him to eat, and he will eat it when he gets hungry and get used to it. Weaning it off by mixing wet and dry will be futile most likely because he will just want to eat the dry food when wet is mixed with it.

Stop giving canned food. They're smart, but will go for survival. To change you can give them dry food that you've put in water for some minutes, wet bread, etc.
Mine eat wetted corn (I feed the chicken) if they're hungry.
