Is there any special reason for not inviting parents ?? you had a bad fight ??
If no, please, invite them. Later, how u'd feel not to be invited by your own children, huh ? Wouldn't that hurt you to knw from the friend of a friend that your child is not anymore single?

Definitely not. I was married at the courthouse and then had dinner at a restaurant, just like you said, and my parents were happy to come.

Something's obviously happened between you and your parents to cause bad blood. But if you don't invite them, that will only add to the conflict... when you want to patch things up, say, when you have children, your parents will be able to say, "Well, you didn't invite me to the wedding. Why do you want me now?" Avoid adding any ammunition to this fight! Be the better person and give an invitation... how they respond, or how they behave, is their fault, not yours.

Why would you not want to invite the parents? There is no rule that says you have to have a big wedding. But not to want your parents there is a very mean thing to do.

Probably your parents would be very upset about this. I would invite your parents if I were you, unless you have a good reason not to. If you don't get along with your parents and you think it would ruin the day, then don't invite them.

I have been there and did exactly the same thing! My Mom came to the marriage, but was so nervous that she had to go home sick since her husband (my Dad) didn't join her. Even with my Mom only being at the church, we had a blast and didn't have a huge debt of having a huge wedding after we were married! Best Wishes!

Yeah, not inviting your parents to such an important occasion would be hurtful to them I would think.

You could have a more formal reception and then have one that only included a few of your friends.

If other people are coming then you should invite your parents, if it were just you two then your not inviting your parents would be more acceptable.

It's never okay to not invite your parents to what should be one of the most important days of your life. If it wasnt for them, you wouldn't be the person you are.......or even alive........

I figure you can invite anyone you want, I'm sure if you don't invite your parents they will have hurt feelings, but if you don't mind hurting them you don't need to invite them.
