No. Gum, mints, Tic Tacs, etc. won't affect a breathalyzer machine, either to make a higher or lower reading. Some medicines or mouthwashes containing alcohol (like Listerine or NyQuil) could very briefly raise the BAC reading on a PBT (Portable Breath Test, a device some officers use to get a preliminary BAC reading before bringing you in to the station) but you'd pretty much have to be gulping it down right before the traffic stop for it to affect the reading. There's no way to "beat" the breathalyzer, if that's what you're asking. :)

NO. Mythbusters did an episode on this. Also the intox measures the weight/ displacement of your lung air. It's very accurate.
