Don't do it if your motivation is weight loss...
You put your body into starvation mode, and it will then store even more fat when you do resume eating -- just ask Oprah!!

What are you fasting from? For what reason are you fasting? Religious reasons? Health reasons?
For whatever reason, no matter why you are fasting, you should not stop drinking water. You will get dehydrated and sick. I would recommend taking vitamins, too.
And you don't have to completely fast at all. Many go on fasts where they drink only juices and water for a certain amount of time, or avoid only a certain type of food, like red meat, all meat, processed foods, things like that, for a certain period of time.
And whatever fast you choose, start off slow. Just a day at first, then two or three days, and work your way up to however long you want. And make sure you've got several weeks between fasts, especially water fasts and juice fasts, so that your body can recuperate before you put it through another fast.

Unless it's your religion to fast like the people from the Middle East, then I would not have any advise.
If it is for the purpose of losing weight, then I'd say go through the experience but make sure the experience doesn't take control of you where it would make you become anorexic which is unhealthy for the brain and the way you think and for the every organ in your body and also you'll experience complete tiredness. My guess is this fasting for you will be a short term experience anyway and short term means it usually will not meet your goals. Fasting doesn't work, being healthy (eat right, excercise, get right amount of sleep) does.

One of the best fasts is called Master Cleanser. You can pick up the book from Whole Foods or your local health food store. It involves using juice from fresh lemons, maple syrup, flax seed oil, drinking a direutic tea at night and drinking a warm salt water drink in the morning.
I am currently on a fast and am currently using a product by enzymetic therepy.
Do not fast for more than 3 days if you are contemplating not eating. It is very dangerous to your body if you should decide to take this route. You really should do your own research on the internet to see what is out there and what is safest for your body. Try visiting the whole foods web site. I think you will find helpful hints on fasting. www.wholefoods.com

Try to wake up before dawn and have a snake and after the sun set and it is OK for you to eat have plenty of fluids through out the night .One more-thing when it is time to eat have soup first or salad that way you won't be very hungry when you start with the main dish and you wont have stomach ack,
And by the way fasting is only hard the first four days then it is just fine

If you're fasting for a religious purpose then I guess there's no way you could get out of it unless you have some sort of serious injury or somehow medically inable to fast, but of course what some religious groups do is they eat huge feasts before sunrise and right after sundown. Try that, or other wise try to loose weight and don't do any aerobics as they boost your metabolism. Plus don't do any physical activity that you don't have to do during the day, that way you burn less calories and save them up for vital things like beating your heart, breathing, ect..

Fasting: As a way to cleanse the body or jump-start a weight-loss program, fasting has been recommended for years. However, all that fasting really does is deprive your body of nutrients and decrease your energy, leaving you feeling weak and lightheaded. If the right nutrients are not available for your cells to use as energy, your liver will convert fat stores to ketones for use as energy (ketosis). Long-term ketosis can be harmful to your health.
No fad diet or gimmick will work magic for safe and effective weight loss. The following are some suggestions for ensuring a long-term healthy eating plan and getting your weight loss efforts off to an encouraging start:
Eat a variety of foods. Remember, a balanced diet will ensure that you get all necessary nutrients.

Based on our relegious point of view, we too believe in fasting. I'm not sure what your motive for fasting is? But some people think you still should drink just liquids and no food. Others think no food or drink. I would say just do liquids because of the intense heat outside, I know that would keep you from getting dehydrated. And fasting also helps really cleanse your system. If this is what you desire to do, don't let people discourage you, especially if it is for religious, or health reasons. Thanks God Bless~

When you fast for weight loss, you risk gaining even more weight. Your body will stop burning fat and attack your muscle instead. If you fast periodically you will train your body to be in starvation mode and lower your metabolism dramatically. You will never reach your goal by fasting. Eat healthy, in moderation (don't go below 1200 calories or your hair will start falling out) EXCERCISE - even if it's just a 30 minute walk.. It's the only healthy way.

well from a medical point of view, Fasting is not recommended if you are Frale, Above 45, With Illness (especially Cancers) etc. But if you are fasting for religious, ethical reasons then the tips i can recommend to you are:
*Keep a high intake of Liquids, Around 2.5 Litres a day.
*Practice breathing excercises, this may slow your metabolic rate
*Keep psyhical activity to a minimum or low level.

It depends on what you're fasting for. You should not fast, IMO, for more than 12-16 hours.
If you're fasting to lose weight, it's a horrible idea. Your body goes into "starvation mode" and begins to actually store the fat rather than release it and you'll only lose muscle and tone.
If you're fasting for cleansing purposes, drink plenty of water.
On the final note, you should always consult your doctor before doing any major diet change, especially fasting.
