Well you probably want to go get a good idea of what church you want so you will want to visit each of them and wheigh the pros and cons. If you havent set an exact date that would be a good start. To start off though and it will be helpful all throughout the planning of your wedding is go to a bookstore or find one online a wedding planner book. This helps you decide what you would like to have a your wedding and your budget. That is if you get a good one. As to the Bridesmaid dresses it is a nice gesture to pay for both their dresses and their hair for your wedding. The only reason i say this is because it is your day. Some places also allow you to rent dresses but it is completely up to you. Here are some sites that should help you plan your wedding.

Book your locations for the ceremony and reception first. The sooner, the better. Some of those places book up way in advance. Decide on a budget so you know how much you can afford. Just call the church and make arrangements with them. Then decide on a theme and your colors. Once you do that and have your bridal party picked out, start looking for their dresses and your dress. It can take a while sometimes to find those perfect dresses. Oh, and the bridesmaids pay for their own dresses and shoes, so make sure they can afford what you like. And they usually pay to have their hair done, but you could pay for it as your gift to them, it's up to you what you give them as gifts. Also, check out www.theknot.com, they have a great checklist that will tell you every little thing you need to get done. Then you need to find a caterer and a dj. Or you may end up booking your reception somewhere that provides that, and even the flowers and cake. Some places do it all when you book them for your reception. Just remember, shop around and compare prices. I assumed you meant the wedding is in the fall of 2007, if so, you have plenty of time. Have fun and enjoy the planning, because it's over before you know. And don't forget to register for gifts, too.

Definitely check out http://www.theknot.com
I've been using it for my Aug 26th wedding :)
As for the church, just as the preacher/minister/pastor if the church would be available for the date you have chosen. As for the bridesmaids, that is totally up to you. If your budget allows it and it's something you really want to do, go for it. Otherwise, don't be worried. Bridesmaids should be prepared to purchase their dresses and pay for their salon visits. Congratulations and Good Luck :)

you should is sit down with your soon to be and get the little things together the date, colors, the place of reception, ceremony,etc... as far as the bridesmaids I am from Maryland and traditionally the bridesmaids pay for their own dresses and hair, but as a gift to them you could purchase their jewelery for the wedding.

Congratulations!!!I am getting married in November!! First of all Wedding Channel.com has websites that you can build for free!! You make your own,put your registires on there,it has every tool you need!!! You can put all of your wedding info on it incl. your story on how you met,how he proposed and it has a way where you can keep track of guests and includes a checklist for you as well. Then if you register with J.C Pennys they give you a wedding planner & organizer that is UNBELIEVABLE!!!! Penny's and all your other registries such as Macy's ,Bloomingdales will give you card inserts to announce all of your places of registry including your wedding.com page info...I registered with David's Bridal for my dress (just to try on)and I got a catologue from invitations by Dawn that is INCREDIBLE on prices!!We are also going to Disney for our Honeymoon which gave us a great Package deal!!! So the more you look into on the internet the more you will learn and TRUST ME!!! That Book from Penny's was a lifesaver for organization!! Good Luck!!!!Everything will work out!!

if you are limited on money do not help brtiddesmaids (unless u really want them and they will pay you back) reserve the church and hall now. if you want the dresses on time you better go order them right now.I planned my wedding and it is not that hard u just have to stay calm and rational about things. To be honest i think planning these things are easy and fun
