You don't want a CD, you want either a DVD or CDROM

Sure there are plenty of Video transfer services available. Check your local phone book or the internet yellow pages.

Haven't got a clue as to how much they charge. I do my own at home by hooking up my VCR to my DVDR and transfer directly onto DVD.

Yes, you certainly can. I got my VHS converted to DVD. You can even compress the files to put almost 1 hour and 30 minutes on to a VCD. A DVD can certainly hold more. Contact a videographer in your area. It's not going to cost you the earth, don't worry. But it's worth the effort and money as CDs are free from fungus and storage problems.

They probably won't fit on a CD. You need to have them put on a DVD.

A video transfer service will probably cost more then you will want to pay. Usually $6 to $8 per hour.

A computer geek friend could do it for you at a cost of about 30 cents per tape.
