Change them every 100,00 miles, Use the motor craft plugs, The way the ignition system is made I would go back with the ones that came in it. They can be a pain in the butt to change, due to you have to unbolt each coil and r and r plugs, use a little dielectric grease on the end of the coils, part stores carry this and the dealer should also have some. The back 2 plugs on the passenger side is a little hard to get to due to the heater hoses in the way.

Didn't say what year 5.4 and what model engine...

The others gave a good ides for the older model, but the new 5.4 3valve are pretty easy as they are still under the coil packs (you have to remove the coil packs individually to get at the plug) but uses a smaller 9/16 inch socket to change the plugs... also those plugs are known for breaking in the head so liberal use of wd-40 and patience to remove the old plugs and torque the new ones to 25 LB-FT

To change the spark plugs, you must remove the coil packs on each plug. Remember the spark plugs usually last between 100,000 and 250,000 miles, so if you have an engine miss it may be a coil pack.
The time to change the plugs is 3 hrs.

your spark plugs are located underneath individual coils, look for black, round things near the intake and fuel rails-theyll say motorcraft on them. just give them a tug and your spark plugs are in the hole where you pulled the coil out...youll need ratchet extensions to reach them
