A Satellite dish is designed to receive signals that are in the GIGhz band, tv ant are designed to receive signals in the MGhz band which is much lower down the scale ! They are not interchangeable , This info is in addition to Jims which is a less technical explanation.

A satellite DISH, requires a DC voltage which is sent along the same antenna line from the satellite receiver.
A, antenna is basically a piece of wire connected to the TV's RF input.
