I suppose some people eat turkey eggs or use them in cakes, but most are used to hatch out more turkeys. I doubt turkeys lay eggs EVERY DAY like chickens. We only ever raised one turkey a year, a male, and he was to be our Thanksgiving dinner, so we never had eggs.

I would guess it's because turkeys don't lay as many eggs, and the ones they do lay are used to produce more turkeys! Whilst a chicken might lay approx. 300 per year, a turkey might produce about 100. So the turkey eggs are needed to hatch, so that they can get killed towards year end!

You get turkey eggs from some egg stalls at local markets. They just like hens eggs except about 2 1/2 times the size; useful if you're cooking in bulk except the maths is a headache.

They are all hatched for Xmas turkeys. We had a turkey as a pet (we live in Spain they don't have turkey for Xmas dinner here) and the eggs are lovely, just like chicken eggs but richer and they have grey speckles on the shell. We don't have the turkey any more a wild dog came and ate it!!!

Good question......

Turkey eggs taste just like chicken eggs but they are almost twice as big. they make great omelets. I think the reason you don't see them in the shops is because of there size and the fact that everybody is so used to chicken eggs. Plus chickens lay more eggs which will bring in more money.

Turkey eggs taste like chicken eggs, but they are expensive to produce as turkeys are so much bigger than chickens, therefore they eat more, and the profit margin is very minimal compared to chicken eggs, but they taste fine!
