I have a friend who is in a relationship with a woman who is an evangelical lutheran and she's getting more and more controling. I want to learn more about this "cult-ish" religion from someone not involved with the church. Anyone out there know anything about it?

that sounds like all sects of christianity. thats why im Pagan more free spirited and less controlling./
here is a book i whould reccomend ten things i learned wrong in a conservative church by john killinger and the dark side of christian history by helen ellerbe. please read them both!
Muslims are just as scary. I know what sect you are referring to its LMS or something. my best friend is an LMS christian and i tend to stay away from him because of this.
I remeber there being fights in his church and his family fights alot at home. i know that the problem is the religion and not the people but its hard to convince someone that was brainnwashed into it.

I'm not a Lutheran, sorry. But I do know about the religion and it's not a cult. Sounds like the woman is a control freak and needs help!

This happened to my brother-in-law. He now has 4 kids and never calls or visits his parents. The children never receive any of the gifts that are sent to them by their grandparents. my husband went and visited him. ( a 4 hour drive) My brother in law is happier then he has ever been in his life. We miss him and the kids but who are we to barge in on his happiness if it doesn't agree with our way of life. Only interfere if you think she might be in danger or abused mentally or physically.

i dont believe in denominations and my church is nondenomational, we just believe in God and worship uncultish, maybe she got a problem, some people can take it to far and dont realize it
