It varies during the year by 2 hours because of when we change the clocks - their spring is our autumn so they go forward an hour while we go back moving the time out by 2 hours. Then 6 months or so later the clocks change again and the time difference reverts to what it was. The exact difference depends on the part of Oz you're in too as some states don't do the whole clock-change thing which just confuses things even more. However Sydney is normally 10 hours or 12 hours ahead.

8, 9.5 or 10 hours ahead depending on the time zone. Reduce this by an hour during the British summer or increase this by an hour during the British winter.

At the moment in ACT and NSW there is an 9 hour difference, not sure about other areas of Oz, but that will change shortly as and when we/they change their clocks, which I beleive some states do and others don't -CONFUSSING
