For all of you who thought I was joking or didn't take the question seriously, check this link out. Hip hop is a religion founded by Afrikaa Bambataa back in the seventies. I didn't know this before about a week ago.

BTW, rap and hip hop are not one in the same.

If you want to get technical, Hip Hop is a cultural movement whose most prominent feature is rap style music that often idolizes degenerate behavior, ill-gotten wealth, egotism, brutality, and disrespect. Other elements of Hip Hop culture include breakdancing, beatboxing, DJing, hip hop fashon, and nonconformity. More recently, the Hip Hop culture includes dance that is specifically referred to as Hip Hop.
Wikipedia has some relatively extensive articles on Hip Hop, Hip Hop music, and the history of Hip Hop.

Hip Hop is absolute crap!!! Nothing but a bunch of thugs, thieves, murderers, rapists, and generall all around piles of scum. Hip Hop takes no talent and most hip hop (artists and I use that term loosely) have no talent. Hip hop is bringing our society down. Look at piece of garbage drug dealing thugs like 50 cent. He has no talent. . . he is a thug. . . . yet he is idolized by the black culture. Anybody in the world can rhyme words. Every fricken rap and hip hop song is the same. . .get drunk. . get high. . .get laid. . . bang a hoochie mamma. . .yeah yeah yeah yada yada yada!!! What a disgrace!!!

Culture. But, if you work at it, anyone could turn it into their "religion". It is possible to worship something (hip-hop, dogs, nature, etc.) that is not recognized as a traditional religion.

neiter. Its an art.
those who are ignorant to the art tend to stereotype the artist as bad, a rapist, murderer, thief and so forth. Its like me saying rock music is satanic ( I'm sure that not fully true). The is some really good hip-hop out there.
