I am in a different country right now and when I come back to America, 4 days after, I'm getting braces, and after a week after I'm getting hurbsts. Hurbsts is this metal thing in your mouth, that pulls your bottom teeth forward, because of my overbite. It hurts sometimes, the hurbsts, I know because there are these to metal things at the end, that give you canker sours. But does it hurt when you put it on. Some of my friends that have braces say , you just feel a couple of twists and turns, but some other of my friends, say it really hurts, does it? And does it hurt when you take it off?

There is no pain in the proccess of getting the braces applied to your teeth not even the hurbsts (when I had them a few years ago they called them jasper jumpers and I'm sure they're a lot smaller now. The only pain you feel is a lot pressure and intense soreness and aching after they are put on. It takes about a week for your teeth to fully adgust to the pressure and then your fine and dandy! taking them off is not painful either...don't listen to your friends... they're probably trying to scare you... the only thing you have to watch out for is cold sores...wear the wax over all of your braces and the hurbsts because your gums will not welcome the new guests. Going without the wax will allow your gums to rub the metal brackets and you will get sores that keep you from eating barely anything so stick with the wax!

Oh yeah...I forgot... try to get a prescription of hydrocdone or any other pain pill so you can virtually be painfree!

It is a different feeling for everybody because everybodys mouth is different. For me i have braces right now and have had them for a year and it didn't hurt to get them it just hurted afterwards. You'll be fine though i think you'll be able to take it. To me it felt like i was a baby that was teething so you might have the urge to bite on something.

Braces hurt for 2-3 weeks when you first get them (depending on how crooked your teeth are) right when the pain goes away, you'll have to go get them tightened and they'll hurt again...after the first 2 or 3 times, you get used to it and they only hurt for a week or so after a tighten. Make sure you get the wax for them, they rub on your lips and give you sores and stuff. Stock up on pudding and yogurt for when you first get them...dont count on eating steak for the first month.
