I am not a girl, but I think that you should be worried if she becomes 18 without her period...some people's development is slower than others'. I hope it makes you feel better. Because, between us, I was afraid of showing what life gave me because I had no hair. Eventually I grew hair, but it started when I was 15. Most people grow hair at 9, 10, 11 and stuff like that, it might take time, but you don't have to be worried about it. If my answer does not convince you, take your girl to a psychology doctor.

I wouldn't be worried but, when was her last blood test. My daughter at 13 had large breasts and no period. I kept telling the doctors something was wrong. After 2 years they listened to me and took a blood test to check her thyroid. Turned out she had hypothyroidism. She has been on thyroid pills ever since. And by the way, shortly after starting the pills she got her first period.

Research shows that women are starting their menstrual cycle later then usual as a result of better nutrition. However, if you are concerned, it is never a bad idea for your daughter to get a check-up with her physician.

Nope. A female can start anywhere from 8 years old (yes I know someone who did!) through 19 years old. It should be around the same age as you but there could be a difference. I started when I was 11 and so did my mom.

No, not at all. Some girls don't start until they are 16 or older. My daughter and I both started at 10. Is your daughter very active or involved in sports? Sometimes that can delay it, too.

Not at all. She will, don't be in a rush. Some women start at 14, 15, 16 even. If you are very concerned take her to the doctor's and he will reassure you.

Not really. Although if she's 17 and nothing, get worried and do something quickly.
Average age to get the first period is 12; but that depends on the country, food habits, race, etcetera.
Ask your doctor anyway.

I didn't get mine until I was almost 14 because of my dancers physique. I know of a girl who didn't get hers until she was 18. She may just be a late bloomer. If you are still worried go talk to the doctor.
