Set a plan in place and write down your plan every night for the following day. Here's a typical plan that will engage your upper body with proper diet, sleep and exercise:

Work your target muscles 2-3 times a week.

Give the muscles a chance to restore themselves. One day on, one day off.

Limit cardio to 2-3 times per week using 20 minute sessions.

Feed your muscles protein, carbs and healthy fats.

Limit or eliminate tobacco and alcohol.

Sleep 7-8 hours each night. Going to bed and waking up near the same time.

After several weeks of the same exercise vary it up a little bit to keep the muscles growing.

Good luck!

Hi weight lifting is always good for upper body strenghth, You could maybe get a book to tell you what to do or go to a gym and have a word with the instructor he will give you info on what to do on which muscles and how many to get the body strenghth you want. Hope this helps.

Basic upper body exercises for strength, Press-ups, dips, chins (pull ups), with the chins vary your grip, close grip, wide grip, palms facing you and palms away, you wont do many at first but strength soon builds, add resistance when needed.
