I have followed Dr. Gott's column in our newspaper. He suggested placing an unwrapped bar of soap under the bottom sheet in the area where your legs rest. I have tried this and I don't know why it works but it truly does! I've suffered with RLS for several years and FINALLY have found the answer - a plain old bar of soap. I suspect that the bar of soap "massages" the muscles, thereby helping to alleviate the cramping of RLS.

Rls is usually a problem with the vascular system in the legs, in general Grape Seed Extract will help, there is a patented version of this also that works much better but either will do. Dosing is needed though it depends on weight.

I have had restless leg syndrome for a while, I don't really do anything about it because it occurs pretty infrequently. However, I do know that anti-parkinsonian drugs (like Requip) are prescribed for frequent restless leg syndrome. Your mom should see her dr.

Massaging the legs is a help and relief. I have suffered from this for years and having my husband massage my legs really does help. Sometimes a hot bath can also provide relief.

Ive dealt with this also. If you have a significant other, ask him or her to really massage the back of your calves in the evening. This really "speaks" to those big leg muscles & relaxes me enough that I can drift off to sleep. If you don't have another, a small hand-held massager will definitely help.

In actuality, there is a new drug on the market for it specifically. Ask another doctor who is keeping up with the latest news.

I didn't even know it was an official Syndrome until they came up with this drug for it.

Your mom may want to consider enrolling herself in a clinical trial for RLS. It is risky but she may have access to the newest medicines for RLS.

I tried Indian Tonic Water. I'm not sure that it worked but it took my mind off it a bit.
