I'm single now, but every time I've had a girlfriend, the maintenance they bring with them is so high. I have to take them out everywhere, pay for everything most of the time, deal with all their girly wants and needs. There seems to be no way around it. If I want to get laid, I have to get a girlfriend. I could get prostitutes, but anything that looks good costs a pretty penny. Why do I have to deal with this nonesense?!?!?

Yes, girls are expensive, but I'll tell you my view on the girlfriend vs.prostitute thing. If you are just wanting sex it is cheaper to get yourself a prostitute, yeah their up fron cost is more, but think about all the things you would have to buy in order to get into your girlfriends pants, then tell me which one is truly more expensive. If you are looking for companionship that is when you get a girlfriend, because then it isn't just the sex you are after, you have someone to share your life with.

Why is it so expensive to have a girlfriend?
Because they're worth it!
It's important, though, to have the right one ... one willing to give and take (not just take), one who considers your wants and needs to be just as important as her own, one who respects you and asks your respect of her.
Relationships are essential. They fulfill our lives in a very fundamental way. A good one is absolutely priceless and pays you back in many, many ways.
However, if the only reason you want a girlfriend is to "get laid" ... a hooker is far less expensive.
The choice is yours.

It doesn't have to be. I have never asked any guy I was in a relationship to pay ANYTHING for me. We could split the bills, pay for our own groceries, etc. What I found was that a lot of guys tend to insist on paying out of kindness, but I don't think any woman just expects it. I think you should give it a chance because not all women are after your money and you should be happy. I think it's understandable to be broke in college, I'm also paying a sh*tload for it so women can understand as well.

You could be at fault here, for a part of it. Perhaps you try to buy affection and some will try and take advantage of it. Someone who tryly likes you for you will not do this, and they should offer to pay their own way. Not that there's anything wrong with picking up the check, but you shouldn't be expected to do it every time.
Here's a line from the movie "Under Seige" that's perfect for this:
Steven Segal has just pulled Erica Eliniak out of a locker and is handing her the weapons to carry. She protests about a woman having to carry this:
Steven: "I thought you believed in equal rights."
Erics: "Only when it works in my favor."

Sorry to inform you but not all girls are like that, you just seam to be picking the ones that are. I've always been the type to buy guys things and drinks when we go out. I guess I like to let them know that I'm not the kind of girl that just wants there money. Its nice every once in a while to get things but its not a have to.

sounds to me like you have been choosing the wrong type girls.. how about finding a girl who has a brain in her head and knows the importance of something besides those brainless girlie things? I know I am something of an enigma, but I have never understood the need to have a guy spend loads of money on you.. seems terribly selfish and disrespectful for a girl to be that way. good luck with better choices. I promise you that all girls aren't that way.

It's fairly basic actually. Women are looking for the best possible mate. Part of that criteria is someone who can take care of her and her children financially. You demonstrate that by what you spend on her within the context of dating. What sort of woman would stay with a man that doesn't spend any money on her? Think about it. Is that the type of woman you want with you?

If u keep buying them everything and not put ur foot down they're going to get whatever they can get from u. If you want to slow down on spending do things that require no or little money. When u do go out drop lil hints, like, it's cool I'll get this one and u can get the next one, smile and change the subject fast. Or like u know, I'm on a budget right now blah, blah, blah. or even ask, do u want to split it? Put them on the spot, if she answers no, then u know she thinks it's not worth her money, pay for it and dump her. It shouldn't only b u paying for things, but do pay for the important ones too, u don't want to seem like a cheap ***.

You seem to be a giving,thoughtfull person most in this world will take advantage,,,Dont be so quick to buy for..and give it all..I know there are different veiws ,,but the deal...man always pays isnt really a common etiquette anylonger..Best policy is to be upfront..and after a few dates ..GO DUTCH..that is half and half...if she cares she will understand..if u really cant afford or feel to extravagent..say so...dont spoil her from the start and try to change that wont work..Organize your ideas and ways in this matter..any girl,woman worth while will understand...

Because you want to get laid and don't care about your girlfriend herself. When that happens, there are plenty of ways to "around it". But then, when that happens you don't care all that much about the expense either.
Anyway, a girl who knows her partner cares about _her_ is much less whimsical. But when she knows he wants to get laid, she has a blank cheque - because she can withhold what you want if you don't give what she wants. Tit for tat, in fewer words.
