You probably are going by their schedule, and not giving them your schedule. Cats, by nature, are nocturnal so they're going to want to eat, when we sleep. However, why don't you try having dry food out in a place that you don't have to hear the cat? Also it is best to limit the wet food feedings for a cat, as the cat's teeth, in the long run, don't fare well. Trust me, learned the hard way on that!!! Cats can be trained though to go by your schedule but cats also(and why we love 'em too!)are those independent souls, and have their own temperaments and personalities. However, don't let the cat train you to feed at 2am, you train the cat!!! Also, is it a non spayed or neutered cat? 'Cause the cat may not be telling you he/she wants to eat but I WANT OUT TO GET SOME ACTION!!LOL HAHA!! So, please keep the cat indoors(and they live longer too)or get your cat spayed/neutered. Good luck!

1) Because there are no such things as cats, only various imps & goblins that take on that form. (Last Unicorn, I think.)

2) Because cats are itty bitty old women in cheap fur coats. (Internet somewhere)

Really, I think it has something to do with the fact cats are a bit nocturnal. Mine's having a blast now that I'm up with the baby at night. Don't feed the kitty until at least a set time (like 7 am) and eventually he/she will learn to wait that long. Though they will glare. :)

Becuse only dogs have owners, Cats have staff! lol. But seriously, I have two cats myself and the best thing I have found is to go to the store and buy a self feeder. This way they have food at their dissposal 24 hours a day and they won't bother you all night long. Works for mine! Also as stated by another respondent cats are nocturnal.

Cats are very intelligent creatures, they know you and how to push your buttons. They're hungry, you're sleepy. If they pester you enough, you'll get up and feed them just to get them to leave you alone. In my own experience, I just make sure their dish is always full. Cats are slightly different than dogs. They eat until they are full, not until they are sick. Dogs will eat whatever you give them whenever you give it to them. If you leave a full dish for dogs then they will eat it all and want more because they think it pleases you. If your cats are waking you up at night, try filling their dish before going to bed. This should help.

they dont demand it... you have encouraged it. if you actually get up in the middle of the night and feed it then your cat will think that it is ok for it to beg. almost like a dog begging for table scraps. and if the cat crys, put some dry food out in a dish for it to munch on in the middle of the night.

Cats own YOU and your house. Mohammed loved them so much beause the cats that became his companions at the mountain impressed upon him their regal qualities. The Egyptians loved and worshipped cats because the cats always made the Egyptians feel like the people were the subjects and the cats were the rulers.

Your cat is training you. It should be the other way around.

My daughter's cat used to stand quietly by my bed or outside my door for hours and wait for me to wake up. She knew I had no intention of getting up early in the morning to feed her.

Because they are awake at that time and because you get up and feed him. It's called conditioning. Solution is to either leave dry food on the floor all night (they like to nibble) or all day. They are not like dogs, they don't eat one huge meal a day.

Because you've trained them to do so. Mine never bother me for food at night. They have a dry food feeder and it just allows them to eat whenever they want.
Cats aren't like dogs, they only usually eat when they're hungry and stop when they're not.
Dogs will eat everything in sight if you let them.

the cat has conditioned you to feed him at his time instead of the other way around.

Ruled by the cat!
