Bring them to a professional knife grinder. Unless you have some spare knives and scissors that you can practice on (and ruin in the process) then you're probably better off having a professional do it.

Use a whet stone for your knives. Some can openers come with a can opener (mine does) and it sharpens knives great.

A good way to sharpen your scissors is to cut a sheet of aluminum foil. (I have a lot of scrapbooking scissors and a fellow scrapbooker gave me that tip.)

They have sharpening tools that you can get at most kitchen supply stores. Look back where they sell the knives at.

A lot of electric can openers have a sharpener on the back side of them.It looks like 2 narrow grooves on the top and rear that are at a slight opposing angle to each other.

I wet the bottom of a ceramic coffee cup use it as a stone to sharpen my utensils. It's quick and handy!
