i move around ALOT in my sleep and one time i accidentaly kicked him (not hard) when i was half awake in bed. so i moved to the couch bed and for the first couple of nights he slept with me, and whenever i would move around too much he would come and lay by my head or just move to the other side of the bed, but last night he didn't sleep with me. is he just growing out of sleeping with me and wanting to sleep on his own or is he too tired of trying moving around all night?
he's slept with me for 3 years and i can't sleep without him lol

One very common factor in a dog's sleeping pattern is temperature. Dogs get hotter than we do, faster than we do. What might feel comfortable for you, could be just a little too warm for your pet. Perhaps the body heat generated on the bed isn't right for him. It could also be the new bed. One of my dogs quit sleeping on the bed when I got a new bed that was a little higher than the last and softer. She prefered the safety and firmness of the floor. You might try making a section of the bed just his. Perhaps an upper corner near your head, where you'd be less likely to bother him with tossing and turning.

My dog has been sleeping with me for two years now. Sometimes when I am sleeping I kick. I have actually kicked her off the bed a couple of times. She just jumps back on the bed though. Sometimes my dog doesn't like sleeping on my bed. Every once in a while she will sleep on the floor next to my bed or something like that. So don't worry, I am sure your dog will be back on your bed tonight!

Based on your previous question.. saying that you wake up sweating and shivering and everything, you sound to be having a health problem.
Now, the fact that the dog also left you, is an additional proof that you should go and see a doctor. I think the dog felt it that you are sick. Interesting, cause my dog, for example come there and sit around me when I am down and ill, or even when bad moods, he wouldn't leave.
You must have slept very bad and agitated that the dog decided to seek a better place. I think he thought "my master is having a teenage hormonal fireworks period, geez, I am gonna keep myself out of this for now"!
:)))

Hm, but, seriously, go and see a doctor and be nice to the dog.
If you get yourself treated, he will come back and sleep with you again! He alse needs some peace of mind, you know...
Don't be selfish... :)

My suggestion is get out of your (comfortable) bed and go to him....even if this means sleeping on the floor!!!! My experience was the opposite of yours. My dog slept comfortably in his crate without me...for 1 year, then I found myself sleeping near HIM....not my bed....Now, my situation just so happened to be that I lived in an apartment and Jake was too big to crate all day long...found another wonderful home for him.
Obviously, no one can really give you the "just right" advice...you are Mom..so listen to him.......if you have a new boyfriend, pet, etc. he knows. : )

My dogs Charlie and Sasha sleep with me and my dog Luckey has slept with my parents for 5 years now, so I think he is just annoyed and sick of u moving around now. And just wants some peace and quiet for the night so he can a decent night sleep.

As a young adult (college-age) we had 2 Golden Retrievers; now as an adult on my own I have 2 Boxers ..... all of them have slept in bed with me at one time or another. I discovered that they usually get up and move when they get too hot being in bed. Maybe your pooch is just simply too hot with the blankets and extra body heat!

How old is your dog? Our dog is about Six years old (human years) and she's just getting to the point where it's too painful for her to jump up on our bed and sleep.

He's probably just tired. If he doesn't get alot of sleep during the day, and he has to constantly wake up due to your moving, he probably just gave up on that and decided to sleep on his own.

My dog always sleeps with me. Once in a while she sleeps on the floor. Your dog will come back and sleep with you again.
