No, definitely not! The National Guard should of course be armed, and be empowered to arrest and detain illegal immigrants, who should be taken to a detention center awaiting deportation ... if the illegals don't have a chance to get further inland when they're just across the border, but immediately taken to a center, we know where they are ...
There can be no sensible outcome of this whole debacle until the borders are secured ... I do realize that deporting them means very little, since they will just creep back again ... the answer, if we don't want bloodshed, is to build the damn fence, patrol it, and I mean REALLY patrol it, arrest, detain and deport!!

Deadly force is not an alternative to stopping illegal force. The very fact that there are some National Guard on our borders now - the results have been greater than expected. Without any armed confrontation the percentage of illegal arrests has dropped by over 40%.
At the present time, illegal entry into this country is a misdemeanor - not a felony. Deadly force is never justified for the commission of a misdemeanor. If the illegal immigrant tries to attack the National Guard - that escalates the nature of the offense and thew Guard can force to protect himself or others.
You say jails at taxpayer expense don't work. Actually very few are arrested and jailed. Most are arrested and sent back - only to return a short time later. I would suggest that we make the second or third attempt to get back into the United States a felony - and put these people away for years. That won't end illegal immigration - but it will slow it down a lot.

Deadly force may be to extreme. But I think when someone is caught we should cut off a finger. that way we can be sure of the amount of times this person has been caught. Then maybe develope a three strike rule where execution is used. But if there was some type of real punishment people would think twice before doing it.

Give them all loaded guns and have them shoot away! Gun down a few of the wetbacks and the word will travel fast that we don't want them here and they'll stay on the other side of the border where they belong. If they want to live here, let them do it the legal way and learn to speak English as a start.

I agree. Wouldn't have to shoot many, huh, JD? What chance do they have of "finding a better life for their family" if they are dead. I asked a similar question way back when I first started on here and got death threats, you did pretty good. Check out the third question I ever asked on here. Read the answers, not nearly this good.

No, not as a deterrent. However, I think they definitely should be armed and able to stop drug runs the border patrol has a hard time with. Otherwise, what is the point?

In most places in the U.S., people may shoot anyone who breaks into their residence.
I think this law should extend to the Border Patrol. Anyone caught breaking into the U.S. should be shot on site.
I think land mines would be an excellent idea, also, with proper warning signs posted in English and Spanish.

Only if necessary. I don't think they should just shoot a person cause he's trying to sneak across. It would definately stop illegals from trying though.. But it's way too far!!

It looks like it is going to take something drastic to get the point across. Just look how arrogant the illegals and supporters are in here. It it well past time for something to get done.
