I hate people that do that!! Since dogs can only sweat through the pads of thier feet and by panting they cant cool down very efficiently a dog left in a car even on a cloudy day can get heat stroke and die in 30 minutes or less. Also if they live they can have permanent brain damage. So no I would never endanger my dogs life by leaving him in a vehicle that can get an internal temp of well over 100 degrees. The local OSPCA here in Ontario Canada has to put out alerts every summer because idiot people bring their dogs to the grocery store and leave them in the car....It is a huge problem and many dogs die every year because of thier owners ignorance and stupidity.

It would probably be best to leave your dog at home because if it is that hot in the car even with the window rolled down he can get heat stroke and he could also jump out the window if you go into a store or something...

Leave the poor dog at home!!! It is selfish to take your pet with you when the temps are that high. Inside a car on a 100 degree day can reach over 120 degrees even with the windows cracked. Its animal cruelty.

I would never, ever take my dogs with me on a hot day. Go sit in your car on a hot day. Time it. Even with the windows down, it can get very hot in just a matter of minutes. It is cruel to leave your dogs in the car. If we have to take them (for example, if we're heading to camp or somewhere away) then when we need to stop at a store one of us stays in the car or we leave it running with the doors locked. (never for long, it could stop running) We all have a set of keys to each car.

I worked in a vet and saw the effects first hand. Please people, I am begging you, DONT ever take your pets out on a 100 degree day. If you love them like children, would you keep your kids in the car? Come on people, the poor animals cook and will die.

I think people who do this should be arrrested and convicted of abuse. How stupid are these people? They want to take the dog with them, then end up leaving it to die in a hell hot car? Makes you wonder, how some people get as far as they did in life huh?

I would never take my dog when I was running errands and leave him in there.
I do take my dog in my car to the park and to visit people. I just run the air conditioner.

dogs are like kids and like to spend time with you no matter what. As long as you are not leaving them in the car when it is hot out, then why not.
