I have a friend who quit her job due to personal reasons. This reason leaves it up to interpretation which is good because she can give any logical reason and it should work. What is a logical reason that a logical thinking person will accept?

You will have to check the unemployment office in the state in which your friend was employed.

For the most part, the only acceptable reason would be that the person was forced to quit due to actions of the employer that were in violation of state labor laws or human/equal rights violations.

Unemployment won't leave it up to 'interpretation' - there will be an opportunity for the employer to dispute the claim, and a hearing to determine if benefits will be paid.

Yeah, "piggie"'s right. I got put throught the wringer when I quit a job I thought was unsafe. My girlfriend was forced out of her job and wrote a letter of resignation. The union told her she would get unemployment because she didn't specify a reason. I'm guessing they're thinking the employer won't contest it, but I think they shot her a line of you know what... but we'll see. Good luck!

Well, there aren't really any when you quit for "personal reasons", that implies that you aren't willing to go try to get another job. I've only ever seen people able to collect when they get "downsized".

What would I think was reasonable? Their spouse was transferred more than miles from their current job, and they had to move.
