Well, I think the issue here is that they COULD probably sew up the border tighter than a... but, they won't because they're milking the problem. I think the guys n gals in Congress etc. are old hands at maximizing the load against the american taxpayers since WAYYYY back, and frankly the best medicine for em seems to be open criticism. The voters need to speak, loudly and frequently, and Mexico needs to be kept out of our country.
Citizens need to write their city councils and voice their grievances on the issue of illegal aliens, which in turn can present that to the county government, which in turn can hand it on up to state government. What this will do is edify the states when it comes time to debate the issue in Washington. I don't care how much money businesses and employers make off the deal, my feeling is that communities don't WANT to be overrun
with illegals, and with good reason, and I can only speak for myself, but I don't like the idea of people from all over hell with NO kind of idea what background they have entering our country and taking up next door to me etc.Maybe, if Bush likes illegals so much, they can move to his ranch? Better there than in my town etc. Mexicans need to fix mexican problems in mexico, and if they DO come to the US, what's the big problem with doing it legally? I don't understand. Everytime you turn around in the United States, theres law this, law that, law something-something, but is that only for americans, now? When mexican citizens see fit to start following our laws, I'll feel a lot better about them being in the United States. Until then, to hell with the whole thing. I think mexican illegals are being given deliberate preferential treatment over americans, if they really think mexicans are that much better than us, then by all means let them take their factories TO mexico etc. Good riddance.

Good point! They seem more inclined to waste manpower in these other places than where it is really needed, like along the border. As for the individual who asked about Area 51 and if it is real. Yes it is. When I was driving through the desert between California and Nevada, after you get into the Nevada side, you start seeing signs along fences on the government property that say, GOVERNMENT AREA 51 NO TRESPASSING.

If only signs worked that easily along the border. Oh well armed US troops and electric fences and walls may be a better answer

I dont KNOW that area 51 is so secured but the answer to your question is priorities within the various government agencies. Area 51 is just an area of a very secure national defense area. The border is not considered a national defense area yet thus it is a lower priority and is handled by a completely different government agency.

=I think there is a big difference between a border patrol and an all out military installation. Truth is until people really started stating their concern the government turned a blind eye. Not a lot of criminal activity trying to get into the 51 so you don't have nearly the people that you have sneaking accrossed the border. Even now you heard people yelling about why is the NG on the boarder.

Probably because there's more interest in crossing the border (mainly from the south to the north) than there is in getting into Area 51.

That's not a very political answer, but I think it's probably a factor.

Area 51 is just an airbase. No where near 2000 miles around.
Securing an airbase is lot easier then a border.
Especially when you don't have liberals crying that you shouldn't hurt anyone trying to get in.

Of course they can, very easily! But they don't WANT to ... it suits them to pay lip service to the demands of the American people, but they are trashing around for any excuse not to do so ... sending a few National Guardsmen to the border is a joke anyway ... the border needs to be secured, and secured now!

Oh, it could be done. It needs interior enforcement as well, though. It even HAS been done.

History shows, however, that administration focus changes, staffing is reduced, and the issue no longer is a priority. That is why we need the security fences.

Because our government officials have no clue what national security truly involves, nor do they care about our sovereignity versus the almighty bottom line, and stockholders votes.
