A species is said to be dimorphic when there are distinct visual characteristics between the sexes. Gray Cockatiels are an example of this; the male bird has a bright yellow head.

Dimorphic means that you can tell the sex of the bird by some exterior means, usually a color difference. In budgies, it is the cere (Nose flesh above the beak) that is a different color. In cockatiels, the male has a much brighter and distinct orange cheek patch. Females usually have a barred tail. (Stripes on the tail).

It means in terms of an organism, that it exists in two forms...the male with its characteristics and the female with different characteristics...in human terms, that's very apparent...

Sexual dimorphism is when males and females of a species are different in size, appearance or behavior. Examples are 1) many bird species where males are bright or have long tails and females are drab, for example, cardinals, widow birds, peacocks, house finches, chickens. 2) many mammals where males are larger than females and often have ornaments dolphins, humans, big horn sheep, reindeer, dogs. 3) birds of prey often have females larger than males (hawks), 4) in salmon, males have hooks for fighting, and humps on their backs.

Dimorhic means you can visually tell the males from the females.
Cockatiels are hard to say DNA sexing is your best bet.
Or if your cockatiel lays an egg its a girl.
