My wife 26, 3 daughters 5,4,2 and my self 26,have terrible eating habits. We are not over weight, we just dont eat the right food. I know that my wife and me are the ones that bring in the food, but we just dont cook. I am tired when I get home from work so I dont want to cook and my wife dont want to cook or clean. So we end up getting something from fastfood or something to pop in the Microwave. Any advise???

I know it is hard, but you have to work on making a lifestyle change. Start with small changes at first and it will get easier as you go along. Stock the house with Healthy snacks to start. Get used to eating low fat...no fat foods. Switch to sugar substitutes. It seems hard at first, but trust me the more you practice eating healthy the more natural it becomes. This is coming from a house with 3 girls ages 12, 10 and 6 and their father and I were the king and queen of junk food. We have been changing our lifestlye since 7/21/06 and in that short time the whole family has adjusted and actually the kids READ food labels now when we so shopping and are aware of what is good and what is not. Just make the effort and you will be so glad that you did! They started off moaning and groaning and yucking..and now they eat Turkey burgers, Turkey Bacon more veggies, they love fresh fruit and they go straight for whole wheat bread rather than white. ect.

Get together on you day off and cook tons of food like spagetti etc.. stuff that freezes really good and warms up and tastes right (mashed potatoes are icky so dont do those) then you have your microwavable meals that are also home cooked for the week.

I'm very much into equality of the sexes, but also of assuming responsibilities. If your wife doesn't work, she should be responsible for keeping up the house and providing the meals. Not because she's the woman, but because she should be contributing to the family. You have 3 daughters. Think of what message that is sending to them!!

Watch the TV show "Honey, We're Killing the Kids" on The Learning Channel every Monday night at 9:00 eastern. That should give you some ideas.

Crock pot meals, fresh salads that can be made ahead of time and steamed veggies which are very easy and quick to do. Don't despair. Even if you can only get half of your meals healthy, you ar still doing well. Don't forget fruit, too! And lots of water, keep away from all sodas and carbonated beverages.

You should make time for cooking. Your heath and your childrens heath is very important. Kids are an awful thing to loose so you should give them grapes or straberries as a snack or something heathy!

Do a quick and easy stir fry.

Chicken or any kind of meat with loads of veg.

Anything with eggs only takes from 3 mins to 10mins with toast or beans or hoops.

Start substituting good habits for bad habits, one step at a time. Keep up with them, and then add more good ones. Weed out the bad tendencies one at a time.
