Master Yoda said: "Attachment leads to jealously; the shadow of greed, that is."

That quote from Star Wars EP3 rang true with me. The seed of greed exists as a fear of loss. The fear grows until it become a trait of one's personality to want more, and more, and more. The more of you "have" the less risk there is that you will lose something.

All my opinion, of course!

"The things we admire in men, kindness and generosity, openness, honesty, understanding and feeling are the concomitants of failure in our system. And those traits we detest, sharpness, greed, acquisitiveness, meanness, egotism and self-interest are the traits of success. And while men admire the quality of the first they love the produce of the second." (John Steinbeck, Cannery Row)

"Earth provides enough to satisfy every man's need, but not every man's greed” Mahatma Gandhi

“He who is greedy is always in want.” Horace

One of the weaknesses of our age is our apparent inability to distinguish our need from our greed.

It is not the man who has little, but he who desires more, that is poor. Seneca
