Stone Mountain State Park is probably the best bargain, costs you $8.00 to park and the lake has several swimming areas. Boat rentals, paddle boats and a paddle wheel steam boat offer rides, the steam boat sometimes offers a meal. Golf is a little expensive on the mountain and the courses [2] are narrow and water prone. The sky tram gives a great view and the view from the top is great on a clear day. Atlanta is becomming like Los Angeles and develops a smog layer at around a thousand feet that makes summertime viewing spotty.

The World of Coke is Coca Cola's museum. Probably the least expensive and one of the most over looked is to take MARTA from end to end and ride all day for less than $2.00. See most of Atlanta and view the different ethnic neighborhoods.

Grant Park on the East side of town boasts the Zoo and the cyclorama. The Cyclorana has one of the largest round paintings in the world and dipects the battle of Atlanta during the War of Northern Aggression July 1864. One of the locomotives used during the Great Locomotive Chase is housed in the basement.

The Jimmy Carter memorial library is also near Grant Park and is worth the trip.

For a real thrill, go into the Marriott Marquis, elevator up to the top of the atrium and toss a paper or small balsa glider off and watch it fall 22 or more stories to the lobby below/. If you really crave excitement, purchase a string of firecrackers, light the fuse on the whole pack and toss over the balcony railing. One New Year's Eve prior to the Peach Bowl and the U of Tennessee fan's were doing the fire cracker thing all night long.

The Atlanta Jail is not known for its hospitality.

Stone Mountain is a nice place to visit and picnic. The Zoo is nice. If you're into antiques, visit the Wrecking Bar. Underground Atlanta is neat too. If you have small kids, White Water Rapids is nice. But I haven't been there in a few years.

Go bowling. Stone Mountain is fantastic, go to the Sun Dial, ride the long escalators, Buckhead is full of clubs, the Westin is like the tallest building around, eat at the Varsity and may i suggest the orange crush and peach pie, do not stay at the homestead! Shop at all the malls.

They have a nice park (Piedmont) in the center of the city; that area is also a fun place to walk around. The botanic garden is in that park too. Also, the Varsity Drive-In has unbelievable fried peach pies, and it's super cheap. Mary Mac's tea room is also great, and still affordable. Have fun!
