I need to go to New York in August for 3 weeks with my 14 year old son but have no money. Any ideas for a free passage. Open to suggestions.

You could be a courier for Federal Express or UPS. The way it works is that the courier company takes your luggage space, and you have to bring the shipment from NYC to London. (It means that you can't bring luggage with you.)
Since your son is a minor, he cannot be a courier, and so the next best thing is to accumulate airmiles as fast as you can with Delta Air credit card from American Express. I did it in 3 months. You probably won't have time to do it by August though.
