AVG Free is an excellent, completely free antivirus package.

You can get free spyware removal tools at...
http://www.safer-networking.org/
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/
Those sites are home to Ad-Aware and Spybot S&D. They're both free, frequently updated, and unlike a lot of the other crapware that's advertised on Y!A they *don't* install their own spyware on your system.
