I think this may explain it. What do you think?

Hebrews Chp 12

"My child, don't ignore it when the Lord disciplines you,
and don't be discouraged when he corrects you.
6
For the Lord disciplines those he loves,
and he punishes those he accepts as his children."*

7 As you endure this divine discipline, remember that God is treating you as his own children. Who ever heard of a child who was never disciplined? 8 If God doesn't discipline you as he does all of his children, it means that you are illegitimate and are not really his children after all.

People get away with bashing Chrisianity because Christianity stands for everything that the New Morality doesn't. If they worship the right of man to make his own morality, our religion is the ideal thing to hate, even though they supposedly don't think any belief is bad. Hypocritical, but understandable I guess. The thing I don't get is why similar religions don't get badmouthed as badly; Islam is even less tolerant of homosexuality, women's rights, etc. than Christianity could be said to be, but we seem to get the most heat. Go on an atheist form and say you're a Muslim, you might get some crazies telling you to go to hell for being a bigot and a terrorist, but you'll basically get that respect that the new morality demands for all beliefs; say you're a Christian, and you just can't find an ally.

Another Bible quote wow, how original!! Not everyone believes as you do. I am glad you are happy with what you believe, however the are many who think you are crazy. The Bible is a book of books. They were written by separate people at different times to explain the world around them to the populace. People in those days were generally uneducated. Scribes wrote down stories that they heard. It is NOT the word of God. Sorry. And it was not written before Christ because people really didn't know how to write then. Scribes kept any and all records. On skins. Luke was a disciple of Christ and a physician That meant he could actually write. He was the ONLY one of the disciples who could. Wow and you wonder why all people do not believe what you do!!!!

Perhaps it's God's way of allowing good Christian folk to remain humble. I personally get away with all sorts of nonsense so perhaps the One is gracing me with this divine mission to keep all the righteous on their toes. I may have a purpose to existence, oh would that ever be nice! That last bit about being a bastard though, come on now; only the ex wives call me that.

In part because they want to bash Christians, who aren't always the most tolerant of folk.

But mostly because rebellion is the quickest way to establish an identity. Christianity in its countless forms is the major religion of the Western world, and it establishes a number of codes and conducts. The main religion of the destitute teenager, it seems, is to rebel against any code or conduct seen as the byproduct of a previous generation.

Touting the Truth is not bashing christianity. I think a christian touting that their god flooded the earth drowning all of the inhabitants is the real crime. Do you realize how horrible drowning is for a human? Yet their god did it to millions. If he is so great and could create a universe in 7 days, why resort to the slow and agonizing method of drowning to euthanize his "people"? There's no way a god would do something so barbaric.

Some people bash other religions because they forget that we are all human and we're all searching for the meaning of life in our own way, no matter what spiritual or religious path may help lead us there. As long as some people continue to believe -- truly believe in their hearts -- that their path is the "truth" and that any other path must be wrong, we will continue to see religion bashing occur. Here's an interesting book review from tolerance.org --

In his book "Oneness: Great Principles Shared by All Religions", Jeffrey Moses demonstrates how we are all more alike than we are unalike:

Christianity
"There is one God and Father of all, who is above all, through all, and in you all."

Judaism
"Have we not all one Father? Has not one God created us all?"

Confucianism
"Remember even when alone that the Divine is everywhere."

Hinduism
"He is the one God hidden in all beings, all-pervading, the Self within all beings, watching over all worlds, dwelling in all beings, the witness, the perceiver."

Sikhism
"There is but one God whose name is true. He is the creator, immortal, unborn, self-existent."

Other thoughts on holistic education and spirituality:
"Religion I take to be concerned with faith in the claims of salvation of one faith tradition or another, an aspect of which is acceptance of some form of metaphysical or supernatural reality, including perhaps an idea of heaven or nirvana.... Spirituality I take to be concerned with those qualities of the human spirit — such as love and compassion, patience, tolerance, forgiveness, contentment, a sense of responsibility, a sense of harmony — which bring happiness to both self and others. "

— The Dalai Lama

"The term 'holistic' comes from the Greek holos, which in our context means wholeness. The term refers to comprehending reality as a function of a whole in integrated process. The term 'holistic' is used to denote that reality is an undivided whole; that it is not fragmented; that the entirety is the fundamental reality. The holistic vision is based on an integration of knowledge. Science, art, spirituality, and traditions interface with one another to create a culture of wisdom that overcomes the fragmentation of knowledge manifested in the academic disciplines."

When anybody bashes anyrhing, they are usually either ignorant due to their upbringing or peer pressure, they are lacking in education, or they have had a bad experiance As far as religion goes, it has always amazed me how many conflicts and wars have been fought in the name of. That is why I lost my faith in so-called organized religion and churches. I can believe in a God in my heart just as well as in any kind of religious establishment. It is all hand-me-down over-translated story telling. We all have the same beginning and we all want the same end.

hmm..I'd say people get away with bashing chrisitainity because the U.S. is a free country and we have freedom of religion. It's silly to hope someone will not attack your religion when there are so many in the world. You thinking Christianity should be above being attacked is naive as well as somewhat egotistical.

"CHRISTIANS ARE BEING PERSECUTED"

Ever hear the phrase, "You can dish it out, but you can't take it"? That's what's happening when Fundamentalists use this statement. They have been on the attack for years now, trying to deny rights to homosexuals, trying to outlaw abortions, trying to keep women from obtaining equal rights, and trying to impose their own morals - many of them non-biblical - on the rest of society. Non-Fundamentalists are finally fighting back by speaking out against their campaigns, their media onslaughts, and their mistaken notions of truth, and the Fundamentalists don't like it very much. They can dish it out, but they can't take it. So when people of good conscience stand up for their rights, Fundamentalists cry foul - they claim they are being persecuted.

Fundamentalists see this "persecution" as biblical proof of being on God's side. It's not. Their so-called persecution is merely the rest of society defending itself from their attacks. Their so-called persecution is merely being called to the carpet for their actions. Their so-called persecution comes in the form of editorials that don't paint them in a glowing light or legislation that goes against their made-truths. If they can't get their schools to allow them to pray to their God during class time, they claim they are being attacked. What would happen if Buddhists and Muslims tried to get the same special rights? Fundamentalists would be beside themselves in anger.

This is not the persecution mentioned in the Bible. The leaders of the Christian Coalition are not being hung on crosses (Philippians 2:8). The leaders of the Family Research Council are not being stoned to death (Acts 7:59). The leaders of Focus on the Family are not being thrown to the lions (Daniel 6:16). And yet these people have the gall to claim they are being persecuted in God's name. They are not. All they have to worry about is someone calling them bad names and denying them their request for favoritism.
