Dude, why don't you try UBuntu Linux, its free -- free as in free speech, free as in freedom, and it come with plethora of free softwares like OpenOffice, much-much better than MS-Office, and also its more stable than XP.

You could check the CD's that came with your computer.One of them might be XP.
